What is mentioned in the title concerns our activity since the foundation of NeXT: we provide “software tools” that allow our partners to achieve their goals.
In designing software solutions we have always listened to the people we met in order to start together a path of development and business. While finding ourselves operating mainly in the manufacturing sector, this listening immediately brought us into contact first with the philosophy and method of lean production, and then with the World Class Manufacturing principles.

Giocoforza, our software products, have become very soon a sort of digitalization of the tools provided by the main organizational theories of the manufacturing sector. At a time when in Italy more and more companies became aware of lean theories, we managed to bring a double innovation: lean and digital.

We honestly think that a software house cannot be considered a partner like any other: it brings along inevitably the seed of innovation, research and experimentation.

In this regard we tell you a story that not everyone knows … the origin of our name.

It is the title of a film starring Nicolas Cage, whose character has a gift: he can see 2 minutes ahead into the future.

This concept inspired the founders of NeXT: the idea of always being ahead, predicting what happens, even a little.

After all, being too far ahead, in the lead, doesn’t help us or our customers: our approach, even in this afflatus for the new and the best, remains absolutely pragmatic, focused on the result and solution of the problem.

 

From Lean production to WCM

World Class Manufacturing

The step from lean production to World Class Manufacturing is short: the latter represents a sort of sum of what was encoded by the existing theories since the 1970s: TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), TQM (Total Quality Management), Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing.

The peculiarity of the WCM strategy compared to the prior ones is to have cost deployment as the main objective: that is the assessment of the economic impact of different sectors, starting with maintenance, logistics, quality, safety and workplace organization etc. all organized in 10 technical pillars and 10 managerial pillars.

In this regard, NeXT provides the digital tools to successfully support WCM audits.
But how does this support of our World Class Manufacturing companies materialize?
Without explaining in detail how a WCM audit works, all you need to know is that the audit includes four levels of certification:

  • Bronze
  • Silver
  • Gold
  • World Class Manufacturing

 

Each level is linked to specific results obtained by the plant, and our software works on these items to achieve them.

Some examples: among the expected results in the various levels we find “Costs Reduction Considerable around 10% to 20%”, or “Reduce 7 times Quality Problems” or “Achieve Considerable Improvements in area such as: Quality, Costs and Production Efficiency” or “Cost Reduction reaching a level of around 20% to 40%”, etc…

Obviously the categories that must be certified as World Class are more numerous, but those mentioned denote some of the objectives for which our software solutions have been designed.

This type of support has allowed us to become excellence partners in the worldwide industrial sector that are part of the WCM world, such as FCA, Ariston Thermo, Elica, Whirlpool, Poste Italiane.

 

Tools

In order to achieve cost deployment goals you need only one thing: data. In great quantity and above all quality.

The importance of quantity is easy to understand … but what do we mean by quality data? We want to point out that it is important to provide the partner with a structured, legible, decipherable … possibly visual data. In conclusion, something that can easily guide him in the difficult mission of doing the right thing for his company, and making the right decisions that can lead to the continuous improvement of performances.

We can say that the core business of NeXT is the monitoring and presentation of data … always aiming for innovation. So we are able to provide customers with the desired detail on production efficiency, real time and within the period (Andon and OEE); solve quality problems thanks to processes that involve Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning; simplify and speed up the product assembly phases thanks to operator support tools (pick to light, visual SOP) and more. Business innovation

In light of what has been said, in these years of great development we acknowledged an aspect that could appear as a shade or a play on words, but that in reality totally changes the approach towards work and company mission.

We consider the customer as a partner, and this aspect characterizes us. We know very well that a partner is, in many ways, something conceptually different from a customer, but it is a matter of mindset: once you think of a customer as a partner, you automatically think of a relationship that will last over time … you think of a relationship that will lead to mutual improvement: each project must become an experience that allows the partner to achieve the goals and to apply everything for which we invest in research and development and to “discover” the new pursue of our target, and therefore always stay up-to-date regarding trends and new needs.

In this way we can bring business innovation.

This interests us more than anything else. Indeed, this is fun.
